Yumi Matsuo Studio, a busy and colorful photography business based in New York City, offers three distinct categories of photography for their clients; weddings, families, and lifestyle brand imagery. For Yumi's web design strategy, the over-arching goal was to find a way to clearly guide users around all the offerings, all while maintaining a cohesive, curated feel. What's so incredible about Yumi's work is that while the subjects often vary drastically, the bold, authentic editing style unites them all through her joyful body of work.
The creative direction for the site can best be described as editorial, clean, and modern. This approach serves as the perfect neutral base on which to build magazine-esque spreads and playful collages that highlight the diverse and colorful characters that fill the stories of her body of work.
Before I began working with Phoebe of "Welcome to the Jungle Home" she was a thriving Plant-Influencer with an impressive audience of more than 20k avid followers on Instagram. However, she was without a digital home and was selling her unique "plant tarp" product off of a Google form and taking payments through Venmo. While it was a great starting point, this system wasn't setting her up for longevity nor the sales goals she aspired to hit.
Enter the scene a beautiful and strategic new Showit site implementing Shopify's Buy Button for content creators like Phoebe who are also budding e-commerce sellers. With a push of a few buttons she can easily activate different portions of her "Shop" sales page and even when her products are sold out, which happens frequently, she's able to capture emails from her loyal fans to be notified of a re-stock, With Big Wave's advice for implementing email marketing into the website, Phoebe has grown her email list from 0 to over 700 potential customers. She has launched now 3 unique products and continues to add more to her collection in 2021. Armed with her digital home base, she's equipped to sell and convert plant lovers from all over. For 2021, we'll be adding a Media Kit Page to make her process seamless for booking even more brand collaborations in the future.
